Probe Thermometer

Probe Thermometer: instant-read thermometer inserted into a finished loaf
Read the inside temperature to know the loaf is actually done.

A thermometer with a metal needle used to check the internal temperature of the loaf. It is the only accurate way to know if bread is fully baked (usually 190°F-210°F) without cutting it open.

Henry's notes from the bench

  • Stop thumping the bottom of the bread! Just stick a thermometer in it. 205°F means it's done. No guessing.
